2 Capetonians who no longer reside in South Africa. The other has Champions League experience and the other has played against top club like Liverpool.

These days you can not imagine a South African national team without Dean Furman or Anele Ngcongca in it and still conclude that team is strong.

That is mainly due to the fact, when it comes to the current South African defense Ngcongca is actually the most experienced. While Ngongca at club level plays right back and center back, for South Africa his always played right back until Shakes Mashaba (Bafana Bafana coach) took over. Mashaba is using Ngcongca's experience, versatility and physic to his advantage. Over the years Ngcongca has been the most consist defender even when South Africa was not doing well, he was doing his job pretty well.

Dean Furman may not be playing in English premium league but he is playing in the English most physically demanding league in the English Championship. Since his inception into the national team Dean Furman has been the main stay in the South African central midfield. In that midfield he has not only protected the defense and did the dirty work but his also innitatied attacks. For the first time in South Africa we are witnessing Andile Jali showing some attacking qualities because Furman does the job we come to know Jali well for pretty well.

Two players that have shown some leadership qualities with out them being named captain, one of them might be leading South Africa to the next AFCON edition.

With Khune being injured and Meyiwa's death, the captains role in the national team is vacant. Mashaba will have to look to Cape Town to find a captain for the last 2 AFCON qualifiers in Ngcongca or Furman.

If Ngcongca will play at center back again, than he will stand a good chance of being captain . If Ngcongca will be taking care of right back duties than I foresee Furman being captain.

As much Yeye, Jali and Vilakazi stand an outside chance of captaining the national team, my football brain says Ngcongca or Furman. Out of these 2 players that hail from Cape Town I think Furman will lead Bafana Bafana against Sudan and Nigeria.
